New Years Day

I watched the setting sun last night

Through the wind dried chill of tears.

I stood alone for one last time,

Bid farewell to all those years.

I said goodbye to all the pain,

And into joy I was immersed.

This all happened just last night,

But it was really just the first.

The winter moon has waxed and waned

Excitement wards off the cold.

In the sky the Jovial and the Divine

Usher in the new and dash off the old.

Mercury has long been sent,

With news that Mars traversed.

This all happened just last night,

But it was really just the first.
